Hockey 4 - Home
|
|
Hockey 4 is for boy's and girls born in 2002 and have played hockey before. We have three ice times per week:a practice or game on Saturdays, practice or game on Sundays and a development time on Mondays or Wednesdays (exact times tba). Richmond Minor Hockey’s development program has been specially designed by professional coaches from Pacific Elite Hockey School. Groupings are based upon ability level so players will skate with others of similar ability. The specific day for development ice will depend on what skills your child needs to focus on. Evaluations are done by an independent coach at the beginning of the season. The first two weeks of hockey are designed to warm up after the summer break. We are mandated by Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association (PCAHA) to have balanced teams so we will spend the following two weekends doing skill and game evaluations. Based upon these results, we will temporarily assign children to teams with the intention that no single team is stronger or weaker than the others. We then evaluate our balancing by playing number of “balancing games” against other Richmond Minor Hockey teams. If we discover that our teams are unbalanced, we may need to move a few players around to even things out. This continues until our teams are balanced and PCAHA gives our teams official status. Hockey 4 can play up to 40 games. The score is kept and the 2 minute buzzer is no longer used as the players learn to shift on the fly. PCAHA schedules 13 official games and coaches may organize additional exhibition games. We also have one mandatory two-day tournament over the winter break. Each team may also elect to enter a spring break tournament.
