The 4th Annual Joe Morellato Midget C Scholarship Tournament was held
December 13-17, 2009. Richmond had amazing representation at the
tournament, with the following players selected to play:
Team Sockeye: Brandon Yip, Chris Matthew, Chase Hamazaki, Mik Lozinksy,
Imran Ali, Michael Louie, Brian Bauer
Team Steelhead: Tyler Fong, Stephen Gordon, Spencer Mulligan, Josef
Stiene
Team Tyee: Matthew Bains, Jordan Schulmeister, Austin Nikolai, Chris
Van Deventer
In addition, Steven Yip was Head Coach of Team Sockeye, and Eleanore
Matthew was Manager of Team Sockeye.
Brandon Yip was chosen by PCAHA a recipient of a $500 Scholarship for
his play on Team Sockeye.

The 3 players were on the GVC Avalanche team in the PCAHA Midget Scholarship Tournament
As well as 6 players representing Seafair.
The remaining Avalanche players are from Burnaby, Burnaby Winter Club, New Westminster, South Delta and Vancouver.
It is amazing how well these players came together and how well they were playing.
In the games leading up to the final....
GVC Avalanche defeated the GVC Canucks 5-0. Rudi Thorsteinson was chosen as MVP.
GVC Avalanche defeated the FVC Oilers 7-3.
GVC Avalanche defeated the FVC Flames 5-3. Adam Madrussan was chosen as MVP.
The GVC Avalanche are undefeated at 3-0 going into the final.
Duncan Brow has been selected to attend the BC Hockey High Performance
Officiating Camp.

BC Hockey announced today the officials selected to attend the Male
and Female High Performance Officiating Camps held in Nanaimo, July 26 - August 1, 2009. The officiating camps run in conjunction with the Male Under 17 Provincial Development Camp and the Female Under 18
Provincial Development Camp. The selected officials will have an opportunity to officiate the best high performance hockey that BC has to offer at this level. They will also participate in rigorous on and off-ice tests, fitness testing and classroom sessions.
Congratulations to Kelsey Yip for being selected to the Zone Female Major Midget Team,the Vancouver Fusion for the 2009-10 season. The Female Major Midget program was formed to provide development for elite female hockey players aged 15-17 years.
Kelsey played on the Richmond Bantam A3 team last season.
RMHA is pleased to congratulate Brayden Low, Chris Manhas, Turner Popoff,Jesse Siemens, and Troy Stecher for being selected to the Zone Major Midget Team, the Vancouver Canadians for the 2009-10 season.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship. The Vancouver Canadians select their players from Vancouver, Richmond, North and South Delta.Congratulations to Brett Iverson
Hockey Canada and BC Hockey recently honored officials from BC who officiated in a National and/or International Events at the Above Minor Development Camp at Trinity Western University August 8, 2009.
RMHA is pleased to congratulate Brett Iverson, a former RMHA official, who was honored for his work at the 2009 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge.
Another Congratulations goes to Turner Popoff
BC Hockey announced today the 20 man roster for Team BC that will compete at the inaugural Western Branch Challenge in Red Deer, AB October 28 to November 1, 2009. The selection was based on the player’s performance at the 2009 Male U16 BC Cup and 2009 Male U16 Provincial Camp earlier this year.
The 2009 Western Branch Challenge is an inaugural event for BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The 20 players selected were identified by the BC Hockey High Performance Evaluators and Team BC coaching staff.

BC HOCKEY SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
RMHA is pleased to announce that RMHA graduating player RYAN UYENO received the Ted Hargreaves Scholarship from BC Hockey.
The Ted Hargreaves Scholarship is awarded in the memory of the late Ted Hargreaves of Nelson who was an integral part of hockey development and coaching. He also combined his passion for hockey with his artistic abilities, illustrating instructional manuals for Hockey Canada.
Ryan has been having a good year. He was a co-winner of the RMHA Midget C Player of the Year award; received a RMHA Scholarship in the amount of $575; received the highest scholarship from PCAHA for $3,000, and now a BC Hockey scholarship for $750.
Congratulations to Ryan.
